Fun Pizza FactsWho doesn’t love pizza? We sure do here at Melbourne Pizza Delivery!

Whether you are in Madrid, Melbourne or Mumbai, pizza is one of those foods you can eat anywhere at  any time. You can eat it hot or eat it cold, you can eat it on a plate or on a napkin. You can change the flavor of it by changing the toppings you put on it.

That be stating the obvious, but there are a few other things you may not know about pizza. For instance, do you know how large the largest pizza in the world is? Here are some  Pizza World Records

Worlds Largest Pizza

The worlds largest pizza was created on December 8, 1990. At the Pick ‘n Play hypermarket in Johannesburg, South Africa, a pizza that measured 37.4 meters in diameter was made. It took 500 kg of flour, 800 kg of cheese and 900 kg of tomato puree. Wow! Now that’s a pizza of pizzas. It was recorded in the Guinness Book of Records, and still holds the Pizza World Record.

Worlds Most Expensive Pizza

Here’s another thing you might not know about pizza. The most expensive pizza was made by a restaurateur named Domenico Crolla. Among other things, it was topped with sunblush-tomato sauce, Scottish smoked salmon, medallions of venison, lobster marinated in the finest cognac and champagne-soaked caviar. It sold at an auction for charity for a whopping $3,700.

Worlds Fastest Pizza Eater

So how fast can you eat your pizza? Well, the odds are that Josh Anderson could eat one faster. On March 22, 2008, in Wellington, New Zealand, Josh packed away a 12” pizza in 1 minute and 47 seconds flat to break another Pizza World Record. Now there’s a guy who loves his pizza.

Worlds Longest Line Of Pizza

Hate long pizza lines? How about long lines of pizza? The longest line of pizza was created on November 15, 2008 in Austin, Texas, USA. Mangia Pizza’s 1,023 foot line of pepperoni and cheese pizzas made its way into the Guinness Book of World Records.

Not to worry, the pizza was boxed up and shipped off to Meals on Wheels (a public service project that helps feed the elderly and others in need) who distributed it to area residents.

  2. Looks like a few pizza records need to be broken. Waiting 20 years for the next World’s Largest Pizza is way too long.

As for the most expensive Pizza, imagine trying to explain that charge on the credit card – ‘it was for a pizza – honest !!’ though I would have asked them to hold the Salmon.
